The Radio Control Challenger Aircraft Carrier is a beautiful model of a Russian Kiev Class ship of which there were only four ever built. Unlike American or British carriers, the Kiev class is a combination of a cruiser and a carrier, and while the intended mission of the Kiev class was support for strategic missile submarines, other surface ships and naval aviation, it was capable of engaging in anti-aircraft, anti-submarine and surface warfare as well. While 3 of the 4 created are no longer used in military purposes, the 4th remains in care of the Indian Navy and is being modernized, which is a testiment to the longevity of this model. This smaller scale version comes with impressive detailing considering the sheer size of the original ship. This is one ship that is both a pleasure to look at in or out of the water, making it a great display piece as an example of your love of RC boats. It comes with extra features such as a child-proof safety interlock making it a safe toy to operate around children. The mechanism is designed so that unless it is in water or has some other form of conductor touching both propeller shafts, the motor will not run, preventing the ship from being operated out of the water.
